Why Setting Yearly Goals Is Beneficial For Your Business’s Brand

We love when the NYE ball drops and the calendar year switches because it brings a fresh perspective on life. People tend to leave behind their bad habits and old ways and strive for something new and refreshing.

This typically holds true for lady bosses, creative entrepreneurs, small business owners, mothers, fathers, and pretty much anyone that loves a new start to the year.

So, it’s time to start planning and setting goals that allow your business to succeed. If you’re hesitant about setting goals, sticking to them, and seeing results, then keep reading. We are sharing why setting yearly goals will benefit your business’s brand.

Planning and establishing goals are necessary to cultivate your brand and small business.

Whether you’ve already set your yearly goals, currently in the process, or have no clue where to begin, start with the key factor. Setting realistic goals will increase your chance of success.

You may have 25 goals you want to accomplish, but will you complete half of them or even do it well?

As you set your top priorities for the year or if you’ve already completed them—take a look at what you have and make sure they line up with S.M.A.R.T goals. Do your goals line up with the requirements below? If so, AWESOME! You’re on the right track. If not, let’s rethink how your goals can be written so you’re on the path to success!

Specific—The goals you set must be well-defined and clear.

Measurable—Define specific measurement and criteria, allowing you to keep track of progress.

Attainable—Stretch yourself but make sure they are achievable.

Realistic/Relevant—Are your goals consistent and realistic with your business’s mission statement and purpose for the year?

Time Bound—Goals should have a defined start and end date.

As goals are established, you will notice that your business creates brand consistency throughout the year.

You may ask, how is this so? When you effectively plan, your goals should line up with your small business’s mission and vision statements. The goals are short-term tasks to fulfill a long-term goal.

When you think about your small business goals, you want to make sure you have a goal that keeps your brand refreshed and up-to-date.

For example, you may be in business 5+ years but haven’t revisited your branding since day one. Adding a yearly goal to refresh your branding will keep it consistent and fresh moving forward.

  • Refresh my website’s brand photography by the end of the year.

  • Hire a logo designer to create a minimal, professional logo by the end of the year.

  • Create new website content that is consistent will all my other business’s verbiage within six months.

This last tip isn’t an instant result, but we included it so that you know you’ll see results if you stick with your S.M.A.R.T goals. Make sure to create at least one brand specific goal for this year.

As you work on your business and goals each year, you’ll see a unified look and feel across your business’s brand. As you focus on updating and refreshing your business’s brand, others will notice as well. They will see the cohesive imagery, content, color palette, font usage and so much more.

It’s not easy to set goals and continue with them throughout the year, but if you do so—you will see results!

As small business owners, we know it takes work to stay motivated especially when the high of the new year is gone. We’re here to cheer you on in your new adventures, same adventures, and your newly set goals.
